How to Business Network Anywhere

If you would like to learn how to business network anywhere, the secret lies in how approachable you are. If you don't feel like you're very approachable, these are some great tips to help you increase your business networking relationships from just about anywhere.

  • Smile.

A smile subconscously attract others to you. The best networkers in the industry know how to smile even when they're having a bad day, because a smile can instantly turn a disasterous day into a productive one. Try to associate yourself with other happy people. Others will naturally gravitate towards you. This is a great way to meet people when you're out and about because successful and positive business people look for other successful and positive business people to network with.

  • Be confident.

Try to face the people who you see with confidence. This is welcoming and invites conversations. You never know the next business person you will meet when they feel welcome and invited to interact with you.

  • Set a quota.

How many new people would you like to meet per day? Start with 1 per day and then build it up from there. Try to add as many business networking opportunities to your day. Stop in the grocery store a few times a week instead of just taking one big grocery trip. Step inside the gas station to pay instead of paying at the pump. Take walks around the neighborhood regularly to meet new neighbors. Eat alone in restaurants instead of ordering take out to make new business connections.

  • Get involved.

Volunteering is actually a great way to cultivate business networking relationships and develop more members of a leads group. Find an organization that you believe in contributing to. Whether you feel like you should help the elderly by providing musical therapy, contribute to criminal justice reform, volunteering at a day care, or a local homeless shelter... volunteering is a great way to meet other volunteers who work in similar verticals. Beyond that, volunteering has statistically been proven to provide people with a higher level of happiness. It feels good to help others. Everyone should do it.
